TS: Provisioned Users system Model

The TS: Provisioned Users system Model lists every user account known to the cluster together with its current status and Org membership. It answers one question accurately: how many users are provisioned right now, and in which Orgs.

Before this Model existed, ThoughtSpot reported lifetime users, including deleted accounts, which overstated license consumption. This Model corrects that.

The Model has 6 columns: 1 measure and 5 attributes.

Use the pre-built Provisioned Users measure for license counts, add Org to break it down per Org, and switch to a table view. Use User Status and Is Active to separate current, inactive, and deleted accounts.

Column reference

Column name Data type Category Description

Is Active

bool / int

Attribute

1 (True) when the user is currently present in the cluster; 0 when deleted. This is the flag behind the Provisioned Users measure.

Org

varchar

Attribute

Name of the Org the user belongs to. A user in several Orgs appears once per Org.

Org ID

varchar

Attribute

Unique ID of the Org.

Provisioned Users

int64

Measure

Pre-built measure: unique count of User ID where Is Active = 1. This is the number that counts against a provisioned-user license.

User ID

varchar

Attribute

Unique ID (GUID) of the user. The key you reconcile against the REST API users/search response.

User Status

varchar

Attribute

Current state of the user account: active, inactive, or deleted.

How the license number is calculated

Provisioned (current) users

Unique count of User ID where Is Active = 1. This is what the built-in Provisioned Users measure returns.

Deleted users

Unique count of User ID where Is Active = 0.

Lifetime users

Unique count of User ID with no Is Active filter. This is the inflated figure shown on older releases. Do not use it for license reconciliation.

Example searches

Search Returns

provisioned users

Total current provisioned users across the cluster.

provisioned users org

License consumption per Org. Use this before onboarding a new user group.

unique count user id org user status

Breakdown of active, inactive, and deleted accounts per Org.

user id org is active = 0

Accounts that have been deleted, per Org. Use this to confirm a deprovisioning run took effect.

Use cases

License headroom per Org

If each of your products or business units is its own Org, search provisioned users org before onboarding a new customer group to see current consumption against the quantity in TS: Entitlement Tracking.

Cross-Org footprint of a user

A user licensed for three products appears in three Orgs. Group by User ID and count Orgs to see how many products each account is provisioned for.

Post-deprovisioning verification

After removing users from an Org, the next refresh shows them drop out of that Org’s Provisioned Users count while remaining in the Orgs they still use.

Things to be aware of

  • This Model refreshes every 2-3 days. It will legitimately disagree with the Admin Console for recently added or removed accounts.

  • The Provisioned Users KPI on the AI and BI Stats Liveboard ignores the Org filter. Use this Model directly for Org-level numbers.

  • This Model is intentionally minimal and carries no activity data. For "provisioned but never logged in" analysis, pair it with TS: Login Activity Tracking by joining on User ID and Org.
